What it does

What a batch renamer should be

Preview, conflict detection and undo are the baseline — you should never act on what you cannot see. Filtering and search let you pick just the batch you meant out of hundreds. Filenames are processed entirely on your Mac, and the interface follows macOS for both language and appearance.

  • See the result before you commit

One row per file: old name → new name, with the changed characters highlighted. Review the whole list, then decide — instead of discovering a bad rule after the fact.

  • Conflicts caught up front

Files that would overwrite each other, and rename cycles (A→B while B→A), are detected before execution. A dialog lets you resolve them one by one. Nothing silently disappears.

  • Undo the last batch

Renamed something you shouldn’t have? One click restores the entire batch to its original names. No manual cleanup.

  • Your data never leaves the Mac

Parsing, matching and generating filenames all happen locally in the browser. No server is involved — the extension has no backend and no accounts.

  • Filter and search

Filter by file or folder type, search by keyword. Even in a directory of hundreds, you only select the batch you meant to change.

  • Three languages, follows your appearance

Switch between 简体中文, 繁體中文 and English at any time. Light, dark, or follow the system — matching macOS.

Two ways in

Where the panel opens from

1

The floating button, bottom right

Open a file list on any supported drive and a “Batch rename” pill appears in the bottom-right corner. Click it to open the panel. Drag it anywhere — it remembers where you put it, per drive.

2

The toolbar icon in Safari

Click the pencil icon in the toolbar to check whether the current site is recognised, toggle the floating button, and switch language or appearance.

Six rules

From fixing a typo to sorting out a whole season

Four everyday rules cover the common cases; two advanced ones handle the messy batches. “Extract episode” exists for media libraries in particular: episodes saved from someone else’s share carry release groups, resolutions and codec tags in the filename, so scrapers can’t find the season and episode — this rule rebuilds them into a clean, recognisable format. Your parameters are remembered, so the next folder starts where you left off.

  • Replace text

    Common

Swap one piece of text for another. Optionally match case, and replace either the first occurrence or all of them.

    Before[电影天堂]星际穿越.2014.mkv
    After星际穿越.2014.mkv

Find [电影天堂] → replace with nothing

  • Add text

    Common

Insert fixed text at the start or end of the filename, with a separator of your choosing.

    Before第01集.mp4
    After流浪地球 - 第01集.mp4

    Prepend "流浪地球", separator " - "

  • Add numbering

    Common

Number files sequentially in list order. Set the starting value, zero padding, and whether the number goes first or last.

    Before风景照.jpg
    After001 风景照.jpg

Start at 1, pad to 3 digits, prefix, space separator

  • Clean up filename

    Common

Replace characters the file system rejects with underscores. You can also list extra characters to delete outright.

    Before会议纪要<最终版>?.docx
    After会议纪要_最终版__.docx

Remove illegal characters (replaced with _)

  • Regex replace

    Advanced

Match and replace with a regular expression — capture groups, custom flags, and an option to include the extension. Invalid patterns are flagged as you type, so a broken rule never reaches execution.

    BeforeS01E05.1080p.WEB-DL.mkv
    AfterS01E05.mkv

Pattern \.\d+p.*$ → replace with nothing

  • Extract episode

    Advanced

Find the episode number buried in a messy filename and rebuild it as a clean show + season/episode name. Set the season, an episode offset, and zero padding — plus anchor words when the number is ambiguous.

    Before[SubGroup] Show - 05 [1080p][x265].mkv
    After毕业季 S01E005.mkv

Show "毕业季", season 1, pad to 3 digits

No server means nothing to leak

BatchName has no backend, no accounts and no telemetry. Filenames are parsed, matched and generated entirely on your Mac, and the rename request goes straight to the drive you are already signed in to — exactly as if you had renamed each file by hand.

  • No personal data collected, no file contents read
  • Rule settings stay in local browser storage, clearable any time
  • Runs only on the drive page you have open
